mapping, tracking, tagging and GPS

So, the trip across Australia on the Ghan provided a bucket load of data to test the mapped.at programs.

The ‘processing’ programs have worked well, and were able to produce a route with now real proablems.

The route – The Ghan Route File

PhotoGPSEditor worked great for matching photos with GPS data for geotagging

Did the ‘beta’ (i.e. not PhotoGPSEditor) GPS data processing, kml file producing software really work? Well, yes, and no. Tracking software on the phone didn’t work very well. Very buggy and crashed a lot. The GPS data analysis software worked well, and it was great to be able to test it with some ‘real’ data. The next few days will be spent ‘tweaking’ the software to remove some bugs, and to optimize the code. Hopefully I can improve on the phone program.
